What do we do?
The Toy Library on Islay and Jura has been running since 2003 an our aim is to bring together young families to provide opportunities for developmental play and to:
Support Parents and carers
Provide a safe environment for parents & carers to meet
Be a source of information about child development
Be a meeting place for vulnerable and isolated mothers
How does it work?
We provide carefully selected toys to borrow, activity and play sessions and a friendly and informative meeting place for parents and carers.
Our service is aimed at families with children from birth up to the age of eleven living on Islay and Jura and also to families visiting the island.
There is an annual charge to become a member which enables you to drop in and choose a toy from our catalogues and borrow them for up to a month.
We also have travel cots, high chairs, baby activity centers and much more.
Gaelic resources are available and Gaelic activity days and workshops are regularly held.
Where are we?
You will find us in The Play Centre in Islay House Square, Bridgend. We are open Monday to Friday 2.00pm to 4.00pm.
We also visit Jura on the last Friday of each month – Craighouse between 10.00am and 12.00pm.
